Aurora Borealis Expected to be Visible in Colorado Tonight and Tomorrow Night

Peak Hours: 11pm to 2am

The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast that the aurora borealis, or northern lights, will be visible across the northern third of Colorado tonight and tomorrow night. The peak hours for viewing the celestial show are between 11pm and 2am, but the lights may be visible anytime it is dark.

Powerful Solar Storm Enhances Visibility

The NWS said the increased visibility of the aurora borealis is due to one of the most powerful solar storms of the year. The storm has caused disruptions to radio communications and power grids, but it has also created the perfect conditions for viewing the northern lights.

Northern Lights Visible as Far South as Colorado

Typically, the northern lights are only visible in the most northern parts of the United States. However, the strength of the current solar storm is making the lights visible as far south as Colorado. Reports have come in from as far south as Colorado Springs, and the NWS expects the lights to be visible even further south.

If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis, be sure to find a spot with clear skies and minimal light pollution. You may also want to bring a camera or binoculars to enhance your viewing experience.
